Always an Adventure

Grandma and Poppie came in for a great visit last week. I literally had a "to do" list of things around the house waiting for them and am very happy to have a garage keypad installed and faucets that no longer leak! Even with all the work, they found plenty of time to play, help us celebrate our 5 year anniversary, paint nails and go to a powwow.

Plan B

The only reason we stayed overnight in Tulsa was to let the kids play in the indoor water area, so the "Pool Closed" sign was not good - especially because it was located right by the elevator where a 2 year old could see it every time she passed. After considering our options, we loaded up and headed back to OKC. We spent the afternoon at a local sprayground as a consolation prize.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

After a quick stop at the hotel for a nap for Anderson, we headed to a AA baseball game. Ellabeth and Anderson had the playground all to themselves before the game.

After they played in the 100+ degree heat, the kids cooled down with popsicles and frozen lemonade.

He was clearly excited for the ceremonial first pitch.

Tired boy after another fun day.

Jam-Packed 24 Hours

We did a family overnight trip to Tulsa and filled the time with as many activities as we could. After a quick lunch at a "new restaurant" (one of Ellabeth's favorite things to do right now) we went to the OK aquarium. Both kids loved seeing all the water creatures.

Anderson was not at all afraid of the hands-on exhibits.

Actually, he wanted every exhibit to be hands-on.

Ellabeth's favorite part was the shark tunnel,

and she ended the afternoon getting up close to a baby shark.

Little Stinker

At just over 15 months, Anderson weighs 23.5 lbs and is 33.75 inches long. He's learning to do new things all the time, but my most favorite new skill is his ability to remove - and play with - his dirty diaper at nap time!

Staying Cool - Part 3

Most of our family activities right now revolve around beating the heat. As soon as she got up from nap, Ellabeth was ready for swimming and snacks by the pool.

We did a little landscape work and then turned on the sprinklers and let them run!

Daily Check-In

Every afternoon, Ellabeth gets out her medical kit and makes sure baby sister is healthy and growing well.

Recently, Anderson has started "helping" her.

He occasionally does his own check to make sure everything sounds good.

Into the Wild

Donnie and I aren't really "outdoors" people, so we took a lot of pictures to document our trip to the local nature center.

Ellabeth used the trip to show us that she is all girl. She was briefly intrigued by the snake, but that was immediately followed by, "it's getting me. it's hurting me."

At the creek, she was happy to just get her hands and feet wet.

Anderson, on the other hand, displayed his boyness. He would have splashed in the water and played in the mud all day!

She was concerned because he had mud on his leg.

Very tired, but very content.
