Ellabeth meets President Clinton

(we didn't make him wash his hands)

So how did this happen? A timeline of the day's events:

12:30 pm - Daddy is watching TV when he sees a live news report discussing President Clinton and a campaign event that he just got done speaking at. Given his fascination with presidents, Daddy gets on the internet to see if there are any other events planned for the day.

12:45 pm - Daddy sees that there is another event that President Clinton is speaking at in New Hampshire beginning at 5:15. With Mommy at the grocery store, Daddy calls her on the phone and attempts to persuade her that this would be a very fun thing to do with the family (we had planned a day at the mall and then a traders joe visit). The answer - 'we can talk about it when I get home.'

1:30pm - Daddy and Mommy enter into negotiations. A deal is struck - Mommy gets to go tanning and the family travels 1.5 hours to NH to hear President Clinton

2:50 pm - We leave for Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Ellabeth sleeps the entire way.

4:10 pm - Arrival. We park. Mommy and Ellabeth stay in the car to stay warm while Daddy goes to stand in line - he is about 20th in line.

5:15 pm - We get in and score an aisle seat - this would prove to be huge...

6:15 pm- Clinton shows up and talks, and talks, and talks

6:50 pm- Ellabeth decides to talk a little during his talk so Mommy takes her to a back room.

7:45 pm- Clinton wraps his talk up and then begins to shake hands with people. Daddy goes to the front of the stage. Mommy comes back in to the venue and hands Ellabeth off and the rest is history.

President Clinton said that she was "beautiful." Last December when Mommy met President Bush (41) in Kennebunkport, ME he told Daddy that he was lucky to have such a pretty lady. It seems like former Presidents have a thing for girls....

We got 10 inches of snow Thursday and woke up this morning to another white covering.

Christmas in New York City

We traveled to NYC for the weekend to check out the sights and sounds that the Christmas season brings to the city. Ellabeth took her 1st subway ride like a champ

1st stop was Macy's to check out their famous Christmas window displays. The store was absolutely nutzo - so many people!

Our day started out given a hand at the Curtis Family Thanksgiving Dinner

Then back home for an incredible meal that Mommy hooked up

It's not Thanksgiving without a nap

And we ended the day by getting ready for Christmas by putting up the tree.

Swaddle Swaddle

In an attempt to understand the daily in and outs of baby life, we thought it would be a good to feel what getting swaddled felt like. The technique is a go to when this little rascal is screaming her head off. Though you look like Houdini trying to get out of a straight jacket, it is pretty comfortable and you get real warm, real quick. Do they make onesies for 6'5 guys?

Thanks to her two-a-day physical therapy sessions with mommy she is walking on daddy' stomach at the early age of two months....ok, not really. Just a camera trick.

Before and After

Today Ellabeth went to the doctor for a check up. She was was happy pre-appointment - but she did not know what was coming ... 4 shots. We did not know such a little human could scream so loud! Her little thunder thighs are pretty sore. Her stats are: weight - 10 lb 11 ounces; height - 23 inches. We have a long and lean baby.

Weekend Happenings

Yesterday, we started out the weekend by introducing Ellabeth to a bottle. She killed it for about 5 minutes and then decided she wanted no more of it.

Later in the day, we dressed her for a cool New England day and ventured to the mall. During a bite to eat at the Chessecake Factory, she needed a little diaper change just as the food arrived! So, Mommy hooked her up tableside.

A "Great" Time in Indiana
During their time away, Ellabeth was

able to meet her incredible great grandparents!

This week, Mommy and Ellabeth are off to Indy! Everything went well during her first plane ride - the flight attendents even hooked her up with a "1st flight" certificate.

1 month old
During her 1st month, she enjoyed sleeping 17-20 hours day (though never more than 2 or 3 hours in a row!) and had a nice meal of warm milk every couple of hours.

Tonight, we decided to get this little rascal wet and give her a bath.

Today was Mommy's big day...and here is a rundown of how we spent our morning..

These 2 beauties got a little extra sleep in this morning. Elllabeth did not sleep much last night, rather she enjoyed making grunting sounds every few mintues.

Then Mommy had some presents to open before we would make our 1st venture to church since Ellabeth was born...this would prove no easy task!

Ellabeth was jamming out today to the new release from the David Crowder Band titled Remedy. She loved it as you can see.

Faneuil Hall, one of the stops on the Freedom Trail in Boston, has been a home for many firsts in America:

- The 1^st town hall meeting in 1743

- The 1^st of the Boston Tea meetings lead by John Hancock

- The 1^st grand stage for abolitionists Frederick Douglas to speak out against slavery

And now… the 1^st public feeding for Ellabeth. Ok, so it probably isn’t as important but it was a 1^st for mom and her! The family ventured into the big city for the 1st time today - she took in all the sounds and smells like a champ.

Momma and Ellabeth decided to get some play time in this morning.

We got the sense today that Ellabeth wanted to be left alone to enjoy her 1st lazy Saturday - she shunned the camera, not allowing her face to be photographed and then closed her ears and asked that mommy and daddy please stop trying to wake her up to play.
